Growth won’t always look the way you envisioned it.

Sometimes we can romanticize growth as only being abundance or making space for more.
But i also believe growth involves shedding, loss, and really tough shifts.
Growth is saying how you really feel.
Growth is sometimes disappointing others by choosing you.
Growth is being willing to let go even though it’s hard.
When we ask for growth, we may have to be willing to allow people, places, and opportunities to leave for our benefit.
That’s growth too.

Anger and resentment are two of the most toxic emotions we can feel.
There are always times when people infuriate us or hurt our feelings but we don’t confront it.
Instead we just let these negative feelings grow wild within us.
Before we know it, they have taken over us like vines crawling over every cell and organ in our body.
We should never let someone else’s problems bring us down in the first place.

When someone does something that upsets you, don’t hold a grudge; confront them and then do your best to put it behind you.

It’s easy to look back and question decisions you have made in the past, but it’s unfair to punish yourself for them.
You can’t blame yourself for not knowing back then what you know now, and the truth is you made each decision for a reason, based on how you were feeling at the time.

As we grow up we learn and we evolve.
Maybe the person you are now would have done things differently back then, or maybe you are the person you are now, because of the decisions you made back then.
Trust your journey, it’s all going to make sense soon.

I used to run and hide from my feelings especially when I felt something that was upsetting, painful, or uncomfortable.
But over time I’ve learned to accept all of my feelings.
I know that in order for me to work through them, I must first honor and embrace all emotions.
They are a part of me.
Therefore they are meaningful and valid.

Pick a feeling that you’re afraid or ashamed of.
Feeling fear, anger, or sadness is okay as long as you don’t let it define you.
Embrace your emotions and remind yourself how valuable they are.
Don’t invalidate your feelings. Honor them.

Having really big dreams is wonderful.
But in order to achieve them you have to start setting goals and writing them down.
It’s not enough just to think about them.
You have to actively pursue them.
The best feeling is crossing one of your goals off your list after you’ve worked so hard to achieve a dream.

Make a list of your goals for the year.
Stay focused and start making strides to cross them off your list.
Set goals and dream big.

Most of our lives move at such an accelerated pace we don’t always have the time to stop and reflect on how far we’ve come.
We are usually too busy looking ahead.
But it’s so important to keep checking in with yourself.
We change all the time.
It’s easy to get caught up feeling dissatisfied with where you are when you don’t take the time to appreciate how far you’ve come.
You don’t have to be exactly where you want to be, but the fact that you are on your way is remarkable.
Good things and progress take time.

Make today all about celebrating how far you’ve come in your life since last year.
What is something you’ve changed in your life that you are proud of?
Remember how far you’ve come, not just how far you have to go.
You are not where you want to be, but neither are you where you used to be. (Not my words.)

9 Life cleansing tips:

1. Delete conversations between people you no longer talk to. It’s healthy to let go of the past and not letting yourself dwell on things.

2. Say kind things about people you like. Say good things about yourself. Don’t speak or think about people you don’t like. Stay consistent with your approach towards others & yourself.

3. Look into mirror, you shouldn’t be afraid of facing yourself.

4. Clean sheets make clean sleep make clean minds.

5. Allow yourself time to feel and grow. Don’t be too hard on yourself for trying, you need to vent in order to move on to better times. Even rainy days work towards sunny days.

6. If things don’t work out, stop forcing them. There’s no reason for you to keep working and failing if there’s other places/people for you to excel and be happy.

7. Caress your body & mind. Make yourself feel loved.

8. Running away doesn’t always solve everything. Sometimes, the reason that made you run will still be with you. Focus on freeing yourself before starting anew.

9. A glass of water and a good night’s rest can go a long way.
